Perry Hacking visited Fry Canyon 7 years ago in a T206H with oversize stock tires

Landed uphill. Lots of grass due to wet spring. Grass clumps make it bumpy but underlying runway in good condition. Did not trust runway surface before the road that transects the runway. Did not stop to inspect it, but it looked 50/50 to this rookie.

Perry Hacking visited Hidden Splendor 7 years ago in a T206H with oversize stock tires

Everything looked perfect to this rookie. Landed twice to the north with canyon approach (now THERE'S an ILS!). Remnants of windsock still visible and useful for wind direction check and very rough wind speed.

Perry Hacking visited Cedar Mountain 7 years ago in a T206H with large stock tires

Did pattern work, repeatedly landing to the north. 15 kts from the north created significant sink rate right before the cliff. Great practice for this rookie.

Landed east, took off on cross-wind runway to the north (calm).

Rob Hunter visited Cedar Mountain 7 years ago in a Cessna 206 with 8.50 tires

I flew low over the airstrip. There were multiple ruts along most of the runway. It looked like a skilled pilot might be able to land between the ruts. Instead of relying on the skill that I may not have, I chose to rely on judgment, and didn't land. The damage is probably best repaired with a grader.

Tent Caterpillars quite the nuisance...they are killing a majority of the cottonwoods in the airstrip vicinity. If camping a tent is a must and keep it zipped up tight!

Everything looks beautiful and green but… Bugs !!!! Holy cow! More bugs than I have ever seen there. Completely covered our shirts and arms in 20 minutes.

Kyle Stone visited Horseshoe Canyon 7 years ago in a Cessna R172K Hawk XP with 8.5 MLG, 6 NLG tires

Landed 20 on Saturday morning. Just a little soft but nothing to worry about. Condition is good with no ruts or major damage along most of the RWY. The first 500' from the 20 end is pretty grown over. I walked the length of runway with my GPS and I suggest that 2500' of the RWY is very good. Narrow with soft edges so not a lot of room for error on landing or t/o.

Very beautiful this time of year. There sure are a lot of bugs though.

Overflew enroute to Mexican Mountain. Landing surface is useable, but there are shallow truck/4x4 ruts (mostly on the North end.)
