Drew Bowles visited Cedar Mountain 5 years ago in a PA-14 with 29” tires

Just a quick in and out to introduce back country flying to a new tail wheel owner. No rutting or debris. Surprisingly no snow yet though I’m sure that’ll change this weekend. Very smooth. Feels as if it were dragged recently.

Josh Kelson visited Locomotive Springs 5 years ago in a PA-18 SuperCub with 31 tires

Runways were firm and growth light. There were 5 of us that parked in the parking area and a 182 that also showed up after. The arrow needs to be painted again (next year). Runways are in Excellent condition still!

Josh Anderson visited Stone Cabin 5 years ago in a Cessna 120 with 8.5 tires

Flew over a couple times, couldn’t see anything more than a dirt road that looked to have a solid smooth surface, but was narrow with potential for wing strike on the north side. Probably would work for someone with a better plane, better skills, and bigger cajones but I passed and probably won’t be back until I see some other info.

Dolores Point is in the best condition I’ve seen it. Very smooth.

Really fun strip. Plenty of room for my 90 horses to get me off the ground. It’s in great shape, I’d say it’s smoother than the gravel strip at CNY. The mentioned “white pole in cairn” is gone on the south end, but it’s fairly obvious you don’t want to touch down in the weedy southern 100’.

Donald Julius visited Happy Canyon 5 years ago in a PA-14 Sportsman with 8.00 x 6 tires

Very scenic and beautiful landscape. My tires were just too small for how rough this strip is. There are large rocks protruding from the ground on the airstrip. I would suggest 850’s or larger to not beat up your airframe during your ground role. I plan to return and explore once I get larger tires.

Kurt Peterson visited Mexican Mountain 5 years ago in a Husky A-1B with 31” tires

Beautiful desert strip tucked in the red rock canyon. Took a short hike to see the petroglyphs. Camping sites and runway clean and in good shape. Wish I could have stayed overnight!

Landed to the south, slopes uphill. Just a skiff of snow. Departed downhill to the north. Clean and beautiful! Great strip, plenty of room.
